Description

  • Lead and scale localization initiatives across products in partnership with volunteer localizers.
  • Drive localized product releases end-to-end, including testing strategy, quality planning, and localization bug prioritization.
  • Own localization requests from internal partners and coordinate intake, scoping, and execution with language service providers and external platforms.
  • Make and communicate trade-offs to balance delivery speed, quality, and resource allocation.
  • Partner with engineers and other program managers to design localization-ready features and improve tooling and workflows.
  • Collaborate across regions and time zones to align stakeholders on priorities and execution.
  • Support sustainability and impact of community-based localization efforts.
  • Help reduce localization risks through process and workflow improvements.

Requirements

  • Experience with localization processes, workflows, and common software/web localization formats.
  • Experience with online translation software, computer-assisted translation tools, and translation management systems.
  • First-hand experience localizing software and/or web content at scale.
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills.
  • Fluency in at least one language other than English, or deep understanding of linguistic complexity across languages.
  • Ability to read source code and identify internationalization and localization issues.
  • Experience with GitHub for version control and project management.
  • Ability to evaluate tools and design workflows to automate or streamline repetitive localization tasks.
  • Self-motivation and ability to solve problems and make decisions independently in ambiguous environments.
  • Proven experience working across teams, regions, and time zones with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience working with community-driven or volunteer-based localization models, especially in open-source or non-profit environments (bonus point).
  • Working knowledge of Python and Bash to automate localization and release workflows (bonus point).
  • Experience using issue and project tracking tools such as Bugzilla, Jira, or Trello (bonus point).
