Description

  • Lead the development and deployment of advanced machine learning models that solve real business problems.
  • Build and ship models that help customers search for and find answers about their financial lives.
  • Develop personalization, ranking, recommendation, and search systems that improve discovery and customer outcomes.
  • Use embeddings, contextual bandits, and other ML techniques to optimize real-time decisions and customer experiences.
  • Build scalable, explainable, and responsible AI solutions that improve trust and transparency.
  • Own the end-to-end path from business problem definition through to measurable impact in production.
  • Experiment with new technical approaches and justify their effectiveness with evidence.
  • Collaborate with backend, product, machine learning, and data science partners to deliver customer-facing solutions.

Requirements

  • Multiple years of experience leading the development and deployment of advanced machine learning models in a fast-moving tech environment.
  • Experience developing and shipping state-of-the-art ML models to production and delivering measurable business impact.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to take a business problem from idea through to production impact.
  • Fluency in Python and extensive hands-on experience with scikit-learn.
  • Comfort working with SQL.
  • Willingness to learn Go, which is used in many of Monzo's backend microservices.
  • Experience working effectively through ambiguity and helping teams and stakeholders resolve it.
  • A product mindset with focus on customer outcomes and data-informed decision making.
  • Ability to communicate machine learning ideas clearly to non-specialists.
  • Nice-to-have experience in personalization, ranking, and recommendation problems for consumer applications.
  • Nice-to-have commercial experience writing critical production code and working with microservices.
