Description

  • Build and scale the ML engineering organization, including hiring, team structure, and technical leadership layers.
  • Establish production-grade delivery practices, including roadmap governance, automated testing, on-call ownership, and incident escalation processes.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop senior ML engineers and data scientists while representing the ML organization to executives and cross-functional leaders.
  • Own the technical strategy for document AI, extraction, retrieval, and agentic systems across immigration petitions, evidence, correspondence, and case data.
  • Lead build-versus-buy evaluations for ML capabilities and vendor tools, balancing cost, accuracy, latency, and compliance.
  • Design retrieval and context-optimization strategies, including RAG, document narrowing, and agentic cross-validation, to manage LLM costs and accuracy.
  • Define ML systems architecture covering model serving, evaluation pipelines, and feature and data infrastructure.
  • Establish evaluation frameworks and production quality standards while driving model and pipeline cost optimization.
  • Partner with Product, Legal Operations, Case Management, platform, and architecture teams to deliver ML-backed capabilities.
  • Report ML organization health, delivery progress, cost, quality, and business impact to engineering and executive leadership.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of applied ML/AI experience, including several years leading or managing ML/AI engineering teams.
  • Experience scaling an ML/AI organization and delivering production LLM, NLP, or document-extraction systems at volume.
  • Recognized ML/AI contributions such as issued patents, peer-reviewed publications, conference talks, or equivalent credentials.
  • Hands-on expertise with LLM and agentic systems, RAG, context optimization, evaluation, NER, document extraction, search/ranking, and classification.
  • Experience owning model and system cost, quality, throughput, and business outcomes.
  • Experience making and defending build-versus-buy decisions and partnering on platform-level ML infrastructure.
  • Strong executive communication skills and ability to explain technical trade-offs to nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Experience in healthcare, legal, financial services, or other regulated domains involving sensitive documents preferred.
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field preferred.

Benefits

  • Annual salary range of $200,000–$245,000.
  • 100% remote position working from home within the United States.
