Description

  • Advise customers and resolve complex MongoDB technical problems.
  • Work on issues across architecture, performance, recovery, security, and related areas.
  • Support large customers as an expert resource for operating MongoDB at scale.
  • Advocate for customer needs with product management and development teams.
  • Contribute to internal support tools for performance, benchmarking, and diagnostics.
  • Mentor and ramp new team members.
  • Build knowledge of new MongoDB product lines and ecosystem services.
  • Handle frontline customer support and technical escalations.
  • Participate in required coverage outside normal work days or hours when needed.

Requirements

  • Systems engineering experience, including Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, clusters, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols such as DNS, TCP/IP, and SSL/TLS.
  • Storage engineering experience, including NAS, SAN, SSD, multipathing, and caching.
  • Experience building and maintaining complex mission-critical production database systems.
  • Ability to read code and basic coding/scripting ability in one or more languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Node.js, or Go.
  • Broad awareness of customer workloads and use cases, including performance, availability, and scalability.
  • Experience analyzing issues from the application tier through the database down to storage.
  • Ability to think quickly, stay calm under pressure, and solve problems in real time.
  • Desire and ability to rapidly learn new technical skills.
  • Willingness and ability to collaborate and know when to seek help.
  • Experience managing large-scale databases such as RDBMS or NoSQL (preferred).
  • Experience with authentication systems such as LDAP, Kerberos, or AD (preferred).
  • Experience using or managing MongoDB (preferred).
  • Experience with distributed version control systems, especially git (preferred).
  • Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or GCP (preferred).
  • Experience with Kubernetes or other orchestration systems using vendor-specific enterprise operators (preferred).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be based on the U.S. east coast for this remote role.
  • Ability to work the required schedule: Monday-Friday 7 AM-4 PM EST during ramp, then Saturday-Wednesday 7 AM-4 PM EST after ramp.
  • Ability to cover a mandatory 1-hour lunch break for shift handoff.
  • Ability to support occasional volunteer coverage outside normal workdays or hours.
