Description

  • Advise customers and resolve complex MongoDB technical issues across the database ecosystem.
  • Work with large customers on architecture, performance, recovery, security, and related database problems.
  • Serve as an expert resource on best practices for operating MongoDB at scale.
  • Advocate for customer needs by partnering with product management and development teams.
  • Contribute to internal projects, including support tooling for performance, benchmarking, and diagnostics.
  • Mentor and ramp new team members.
  • Help build knowledge and support new product lines within the MongoDB ecosystem.
  • Participate in scheduled support coverage and occasional volunteer coverage outside normal work hours when required.

Requirements

  • Be a US citizen.
  • Be based on the east coast for this remote role.
  • Ability to work a schedule that shifts after a 6-9 month ramp period to weekend coverage from 7 AM - 4 PM EST.
  • Systems engineering experience with Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, clusters, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols such as DNS, TCP/IP, and SSL/TLS.
  • Storage engineering experience with NAS, SAN, SSD, multipathing, and caching.
  • Experience building and maintaining complex mission-critical production database systems.
  • Ability to read code and basic coding or scripting ability in one or more languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Node.js, or Go.
  • Broad awareness of customer workloads and use cases, including performance, availability, and scalability.
  • Experience analyzing issues holistically from the application tier through the database and down to storage.
  • Experience managing large-scale databases such as RDBMS or NoSQL, preferred.
  • Experience with authentication systems such as LDAP, Kerberos, or AD, preferred.
  • Experience using or managing MongoDB, preferred.
  • Experience with distributed version control systems, especially Git, preferred.
  • Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, preferred.
  • Experience with Kubernetes or other orchestration systems using vendor-specific Enterprise operators, preferred.

  • Base salary range of $90,000 to $176,000 USD, with a 20% uplift for the weekend shift after ramp.
