Description

  • Lead, manage, and grow a team of 8–10 engineers, setting expectations and supporting sustainable execution.
  • Own the roadmap for durability, availability, performance, and developer productivity with OLTP leadership and Product Management.
  • Manage customer storage and durability escalations by coordinating reproduction, root-cause analysis, and resolution.
  • Improve engineering processes and tooling for ownership, code review, escalations, and build reliability.
  • Partner with Replication, Query, Sharding, Catalog & Routing, Storage Engines, and Atlas teams on cross-team initiatives.
  • Represent Storage Execution in planning, staffing, and calibration while balancing delivery, availability gaps, and platform investments.
  • Oversee storage APIs, transaction and durability primitives, index operations, validation, diagnostics, and storage-focused testing.
  • Lead initiatives that improve transaction performance, cloud-native storage integration, cluster workload management, and system reliability.
  • Develop engineers through mentoring, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.

Requirements

  • 8+ years building, debugging, and tuning distributed or highly concurrent systems software.
  • 2+ years of direct engineering management experience, including hiring, performance management, and coaching.
  • Strong proficiency in a compiled, statically typed language such as C++, Rust, or Go.
  • Experience with C++ and systems programming is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of durability, availability, and performance tradeoffs in distributed systems.
  • Experience with replication, consensus, storage engines, or transactional systems is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting demanding customers or handling complex production incidents.
  • Ability to lead multi-quarter initiatives, align stakeholders through written documents, and manage design and scope tradeoffs.
  • Ability to work East Coast hours while based remotely in Ontario, Canada.
