Description

  • Design, develop, and maintain core backend systems for high-throughput trading, exchange, and network infrastructure.
  • Index on-chain data into event queues and persistence layers to support WebSockets and scalable APIs.
  • Define backend architecture, data flow, and component interactions using event-driven and messaging patterns.
  • Ensure systems meet high standards for performance, reliability, availability, and disaster recovery.
  • Implement and maintain security controls to protect infrastructure and APIs from common threats.
  • Define data storage strategies and evaluate database, queue, and persistence trade-offs.
  • Develop and execute testing coverage across unit, integration, security, load, and performance testing.
  • Document architectural decisions clearly for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in code reviews, mentor engineers, and enforce coding standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with on-chain engineers, frontend developers, product managers, quantitative specialists, and executive leadership.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of backend engineering experience within the financial services industry.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience with Rust or C++ for scalable web services.
  • Mastery of asynchronous programming, concurrency patterns, thread safety, and lock-free data structures.
  • 6+ years of experience designing and maintaining relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
  • 4+ years of experience with low-latency persistence and messaging technologies such as Kafka, Redis, or RabbitMQ.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining high-availability systems handling significant transaction volumes.
  • Strong ability to secure and harden backend systems and APIs against evolving threats.
  • Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies and experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, plus Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a collaborative remote environment.
  • Preferred: Experience with low-level network programming, asynchronous I/O, socket programming, and Linux kernel optimizations such as epoll, zero-copy, or kernel bypass.
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience tuning latency-sensitive trading components such as order-matching engines and risk engines.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with blockchain technology, smart contracts, and decentralized systems.
  • Preferred: Fundamental understanding of finance and derivatives trading.
  • Comfort working in a compact, agile team with ambiguity and complexity.
  • Enthusiasm for rapid prototyping and iterative development.
