Description

  • Partner with product managers, data analysts, software engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver data solutions.
  • Optimize and maintain OLTP databases to ensure reliability, performance, and production readiness.
  • Audit existing systems and remediate data quality issues in legacy pipelines and databases.
  • Design and implement scalable data architectures, including batch and streaming pipelines.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines, enterprise reporting, and datasets for analytics and machine learning use cases.
  • Apply best practices for schema design, indexing, query optimization, and partitioning.
  • Design performance testing and release validation frameworks to prevent regressions and protect data integrity.
  • Establish production processes for monitoring, alerting, backup and recovery, access controls, and incident response.
  • Support data reliability through benchmarking, regression testing, and automated testing pipelines.
  • Improve observability and operational practices across data systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Database Engineer, Data Engineer, or in a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with high-performance, scalable OLTP systems.
  • Advanced SQL experience, including PostgreSQL and Snowflake.
  • Strong experience with data modeling, data warehouses, and lakehouse architectures.
  • Experience building ELT pipelines with dbt and Snowflake.
  • Intermediate to advanced Python development skills.
  • Experience with database performance tuning, including indexing, query optimization, partitioning, and data quality remediation.
  • Strong understanding of database internals and transactional systems.
  • Experience implementing backup, recovery, and high-availability strategies.
  • Experience designing performance or load testing frameworks for data systems.
  • Knowledge of benchmarking, regression testing, and release validation processes.
  • Experience with monitoring, alerting, incident response, and observability practices.
  • Experience with AWS data technologies such as Glue, Kinesis, and Lambda.
  • Experience with Airflow and Terraform.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • Preferred: experience with CI/CD pipelines for data systems.
  • Preferred: experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Preferred: knowledge of encryption, anonymization, and tokenization.
  • Preferred: experience with open table formats and data catalogs.
  • Preferred: familiarity with data observability tools such as Monte Carlo, Datadog, or Prometheus.
