Description

  • Design mathematics problems that challenge a frontier AI model and require verification by code.
  • Choose an anchor tool and build problems that genuinely depend on specialized software such as Z3, cvc5, SageMath, Macaulay2, or similar packages.
  • Write Python reference solutions and provide input files when needed.
  • Determine the correct numerical answer and define the tolerance needed for a model response to count as correct.
  • Test tasks in batches of parallel attempts and tune difficulty until the pass rate falls within the 10-30% target band.
  • Revise and tighten problem statements based on model behavior and calibration results.
  • Submit calibrated tasks for senior review and incorporate feedback to improve task quality.
  • Work within a sealed Linux container environment with a pre-installed tool and programmatic judge.
  • Complete project-based tasks during active phases, typically around 10–20 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mathematics, either Pure or Applied, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of research, applied, or teaching experience.
  • Python proficiency for writing reference solutions.
  • Fluency with at least one scriptable mathematical package such as Z3, cvc5, Macaulay2, Singular, CasADi, IPOPT, SDPB, G6K, fpylll, or SageMath, or a strong willingness to learn one independently.
  • Ability to design problems that genuinely require a specialized solver.
  • Strong written English at C1+ level.
  • Availability for part-time, non-permanent project work.
  • Willingness to submit a CV in English and indicate English proficiency.
  • Ability to learn quickly and get up to speed independently if you do not already know the listed tools.
