Description

  • Design mathematics problems that challenge a frontier AI model and require a specialized solver or scriptable mathematical package.
  • Choose an anchor tool and build each problem around its use.
  • Write a Python reference solution for each task and provide input files when needed.
  • Define the correct numerical answer and the tolerance for an acceptable model response.
  • Test problems in batches of parallel attempts and iteratively tune difficulty to achieve a 10-30% pass rate.
  • Revise and tighten tasks based on model performance before senior review.
  • Work with a senior reviewer in the relevant subfield and incorporate feedback to improve task quality.
  • Operate within a sealed Linux container environment with a pre-installed tool and programmatic judge.
  • Contribute on a project-based, non-permanent basis during active project phases.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mathematics, Pure or Applied, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of research, applied, or teaching experience.
  • Python proficiency for writing reference solutions.
  • Fluency with, or strong willingness to independently learn, at least one scriptable mathematical package such as Z3, cvc5, Macaulay2, Singular, CasADi, IPOPT, SDPB, G6K, fpylll, or SageMath.
  • Ability to design problems that genuinely require a specialized solver.
  • Strong written English at C1+ level.
  • Willingness to work part-time on non-permanent, project-based assignments.
  • Ability to learn independently and get up to speed quickly, even without prior experience with the listed tools.
  • English CV submission and English proficiency disclosure required.
