Description

  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for live and pre-production applications, operating within BAU and incident conditions
  • Own incidents from investigation through resolution and closure, including performing root cause analysis and documenting outcomes
  • Collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams to identify root causes and implement permanent fixes
  • Execute and maintain smoke tests, daily operational checks, and regular operational reports
  • Analyse logs, metrics, and monitoring data to diagnose issues and inform remediation
  • Support releases and deployments, including participating in out-of-hours activity when required
  • Work within ITIL-aligned processes (Incident, Problem, Change) and communicate clearly with stakeholders during incidents and service disruptions
  • Drive improvements to service stability, resilience, and supportability, including automation or scripting to improve operational efficiency

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in application support / AMS / production support
  • Proven troubleshooting experience in distributed backend and microservice-based architectures (desirable)
  • Comfortable working directly on servers (Linux and Windows) to diagnose and resolve issues
  • Experience with shell scripting and/or Node.js, plus Java (debugging and OO concepts)
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, SQL/PostgreSQL, and application servers
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins and pipelines, and tools like Confluence, Halo/ServiceNow, and Jira
  • Experience operating under pressure in live service environments and practising ITIL processes
  • Ability to work independently, learn applications quickly, and adapt in a BAU support environment (desirable)
  • Experience supporting public sector or regulated systems (desirable)
  • SC clearance is required for system access and immediate impact/rapid onboarding is expected
  • This role requires shift working: 40 hours per week across Monday–Saturday with shift patterns (08:00–16:00, 12:00–20:00, 09:00–17:00) and covering around one Saturday in every six
