Description

  • Design, train, and evaluate world models that predict aircraft, environment, and traffic behavior under candidate actions.
  • Build rollout and imagination systems that allow planners to evaluate predicted outcomes before selecting a plan.
  • Develop calibrated uncertainty estimates and out-of-distribution signals for safety monitoring.
  • Define and rigorously evaluate model validity boundaries across flight regimes, weather, traffic density, and aircraft configurations.
  • Partner with the Data/Sim team to train in simulation, validate against flight data, and improve simulator fidelity.
  • Benchmark learned dynamics against physics-based and flight-controls models to identify the best approach by use case.
  • Contribute to shared evaluation tooling and ensure results are reproducible and traceable to data, configurations, and seeds.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Math, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience building and training deep learning models, including sequence, dynamics, video, or trajectory prediction.
  • Strong PyTorch experience and knowledge of distributed training, mixed precision, experiment tracking, and debugging training runs.
  • Working knowledge of dynamical systems, state estimation, or control.
  • Demonstrated rigor in model evaluation and uncertainty quantification.
  • Experience working with messy real-world sensor and telemetry data.
  • Experience with model-based reinforcement learning, latent dynamics models, or learned simulators (preferred).
  • Experience with trajectory prediction for autonomous driving or robotics (preferred).
  • Aerospace experience in flight dynamics, aircraft performance, or air traffic (preferred).
  • Experience with multimodal fusion across vision, state, and structured mission context (preferred).
