Description

  • Strengthen the frontend foundations that Mercury engineers build on by evolving React, TypeScript, and Vite infrastructure.
  • Build automation using static analysis, local tools, and LLM coding tools to help engineers resolve routine blockers more efficiently.
  • Optimize the testing platform to provide fast feedback loops and high confidence through unit tests and visual snapshots.
  • Make CI/CD pipelines stable, ergonomic, and fast to support frequent production deploys and PR activity.
  • Improve observability by combining technical metrics and developer survey sentiment data to guide decisions.
  • Build new observability where needed so the team can move with confidence.
  • Reduce friction for engineers by making the “good path” the easy path.
  • Represent the frontend platform work in larger venues and help build enthusiasm for frontend work at Mercury.

Requirements

  • 6-8+ years of software development experience with a strong focus on frontend work.
  • Deep experience with React and TypeScript.
  • Experience leading complex engineering projects across multiple teams or functions.
  • Experience with multi-stage rollouts, research-driven projects, or consensus-building before action.
  • Strong communication skills across organizational boundaries.
  • Experience maintaining internal libraries or platform tooling used by other engineers.
  • Thorough understanding of modern frontend developer tooling and workflows, including build systems, CI/CD, web hosting, and testing.
  • Ability to work deeply with web platform internals when needed, including Vite internals or deploy pipeline troubleshooting.
  • Ability to balance practicality with ambitious technical direction.
  • Experience with frontend infrastructure or platform engineering is implied and preferred.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $200,700 - $250,900 for US employees, or CAD $189,700 - $237,100 for Canadian employees.
