Description

Build maintainable backend and frontend code for a new product, working across Python, Node, Go, and React.
Collaborate with Staff Engineers and Product Managers to define and refine system architecture.
Design, develop, test, and maintain features from concept through production.
Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to support code quality and reliability.
Translate business needs into technical solutions by refining requirements with Product Managers.
Own complex features across the full stack, from the database layer to the user interface.
Contribute as a key technical voice on a new team building a product in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Proactively identify problems and help unblock delivery in an ambiguous 0-to-1 setting.

Requirements

8+ years of professional software development experience building complex, large-scale applications; 14+ years preferred.
3+ years of strong professional experience with Python, Node.js, or Go in a production environment.
3+ years of strong professional React experience.
Deep understanding of the modern React ecosystem, including state management, UI libraries, frameworks, and testing.
A proactive, self-starting, gets-it-done mindset.
Ability to articulate complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Commitment to comprehensive testing.
Experience leading or co-leading system architecture decisions is preferred.
Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or DynamoDB is preferred.
Hands-on experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins is preferred.

Benefits

Canada remote role with a salary range of $105,000 to $125,000 CAD, pending experience and seniority.
Return-to-office policy applies if you live within commuting distance of an office, with a set number of in-office days per week.
Compensation is determined by job-related factors and reviewed against Monks’ good-faith pay range estimate.
