Description

  • Work with product managers and designers to understand feature requirements and technical constraints.
  • Own projects and features from start to finish as a senior engineering contributor.
  • Build and deploy server-side features using Java, MySQL, Redis, and Elasticsearch.
  • Improve backend architecture to support scale, security, reliability, and customer growth.
  • Design robust systems and make technical decisions for products built from the ground up.
  • Write clear technical documentation to accompany code and explain your contributions to other engineers.
  • Test new technologies and improve codebase quality and engineering practices.
  • Support a collaborative engineering culture that balances code quality with fast delivery.
  • Provide guidance and support to more junior engineers.
  • Contribute beyond the core role through activities such as writing blog posts, attending events, and helping grow the team.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of professional experience using Java, .NET, or other server-side languages in production.
  • Experience shipping software at enterprise scale.
  • Comfort with Agile development practices.
  • Strong focus on thoroughly testing your own code.
  • Ability to write clean code and concise documentation in a large, complex codebase.
  • Experience developing features for the cloud.
  • Ability to work in front-end technologies such as JavaScript and ReactJS is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of databases, automated testing, and Agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency building and managing RESTful APIs.
  • Deep experience designing and building infrastructure for complex cloud-based software applications, preferably hosted in AWS or Azure.
  • Knowledge of or experience with microservices architecture.
  • Commitment to supporting junior team members and building cooperative working relationships.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the country where the role is hired, and Mark43 cannot sponsor or transfer employment visas.
  • Must be able to work remotely from Canada, the UK, or one of the approved U.S. states listed in the posting.
