Description

  • Craft, place, and adjust light sources to achieve the intended mood, tone, and atmosphere in game environments.
  • Set up lighting rigs, manage light bakes, and handle volumetric lighting.
  • Optimize lighting work for performance within target hardware constraints.
  • Apply post-processing effects such as color grading, bloom, and other screen-space enhancements.
  • Work with level designers and environment artists to guide players and highlight key areas.
  • Maintain visual consistency across environments and project disciplines.
  • Identify project needs independently and communicate those needs to leads and managers.
  • Contribute lighting work across a variety of environmental archetypes for AAA titles.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional experience as a Lighting Artist in the video game industry.
  • A strong portfolio or demo reel with recent video game lighting work; submission is required to be considered.
  • Experience with Maya, Houdini, and Unreal Engine.
  • Bonus: knowledge of proprietary lighting pipelines outside Unreal Engine and Unity, such as Frostbite.
  • Ability to work fully remote on an ongoing contract basis.
  • Not available to California residents.
  • Willingness to work on upcoming AAA game projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other disciplines across all parts of a project.
