Description

  • Develop power electronics for large spacecraft with power systems ranging from 20kW to 100kW capability.
  • Serve as the Responsible Engineer for flight hardware from conception through flight.
  • Prototype high-power devices and execute environmental and performance testing to refine designs.
  • Qualify hardware for flight through vibration, shock, thermal, and thermal vacuum testing.
  • Work with partners and customers to define interfaces between the power system and spacecraft loads.
  • Develop models to analyze and verify power system performance.
  • Design more capable power devices and novel architectures for future spacecraft generations.
  • Support development of power switching, power conversion, and other power-domain hardware for harsh space environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • 5+ years of professional design experience with power electronics; research and extracurricular academic projects may count.
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools such as LTspice (preferred).
  • Experience with environmental testing for space electronics, including thermal, vibration, TVAC, shock, radiation, and EMI/EMC testing (preferred).
  • Experience with high-performance kW-scale isolated power converter design (preferred).
  • Experience with load switch design and power path protection schemes (preferred).
  • Experience with power stage component selection for radiation environments (preferred).
  • Knowledge of filter design for stability, noise rejection, and threat-signal survivability (preferred).
  • Programming experience in C/C++, Python, or Matlab (preferred).
  • Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.
