Description

  • Design and fabricate test hardware, harnessing, and test systems for optical payload development testing.
  • Develop modular test automation software and drivers in Python, Rust, or C++ for Linux platforms.
  • Execute development and production tests to support internal and external customer needs.
  • Develop data acquisition, control, and instrumentation systems for integrated-level testing.
  • Own project management for multiple test assets and acceptance testing of optical avionics, including lifecycle upgrades.
  • Design device simulators for component, subsystem, and hardware-in-the-loop testbeds.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product requirements, test methods, and test schedules.
  • Design and build optical tables with automated active alignment for high-rate optical testing.
  • Lead multidisciplinary test campaigns, root cause investigations, and production improvements to improve reliability and scalability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, aerospace, or another relevant engineering discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with test hardware design and software scripting.
  • Strong programming ability in Python, C++, or Rust.
  • Experience designing, building, and testing electrical assemblies and test fixtures.
  • Experience with optical systems design and testing is preferred.
  • Experience with camera automation and quantitative image processing, such as beam profiling, power meters, and laser interlocks, is preferred.
  • Experience with data acquisition, controls, and dedicated test equipment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SMC-S-016 or MIL-STD-810 testing methods, including vibration, shock, and thermal testing, is preferred.
  • Understanding of failure modes in electrical and optical systems in space environments is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to own electrical or optical hardware test systems within an integrated engineering team is preferred.
