Description

  • Research target institutions, programs, and stakeholders to understand organizational structure, incentives, and buying dynamics before outreach.
  • Initiate outbound conversations via phone, email, LinkedIn, and other channels to engage the right stakeholders.
  • Lead early conversations that diagnose institutional readiness, outcome alignment, and fit.
  • Develop, test, and refine messaging tailored to different buyer personas such as career services, program leadership, and senior administrators.
  • Challenge prospects respectfully when their current approach is unlikely to drive real employment outcomes.
  • Disqualify misaligned prospects confidently and professionally.
  • Maintain and nurture a focused book of prospects with thoughtful follow-up and relevant insights.
  • Run structured outreach experiments across messaging, channels, and timing, then analyze results and apply learnings.
  • Maintain clean, accurate records in the CRM to support prioritization, follow-up, and learning.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to share market feedback and improve market engagement.

Requirements

  • Experience selling or marketing a business-facing product or service; SaaS experience is welcome but not required.
  • Comfort initiating cold outreach and leading conversations with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate a point of view clearly and professionally.
  • Demonstrated business judgment and the ability to understand how organizations make purchasing decisions.
  • Comfort challenging assumptions and engaging in respectful disagreement when needed.
  • Strong curiosity and a self-directed learning mindset.
  • Ability to think critically about fit, readiness, and priority rather than just activity volume.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and adapting your approach as you learn.
  • Experience using a CRM such as HubSpot or similar as a core tool for planning work, managing follow-up, and learning from results.
  • Strong analytical instincts, including the ability to assess what is working and adjust messaging, targeting, or tactics accordingly.
  • Experience using AI tools for research, writing, or workflow optimization is preferred.
  • High personal accountability and ownership over outcomes, not just effort.
  • Experience selling SaaS or subscription-based B2B products is preferred.
  • Experience selling into higher education, government, or other committee-driven or regulated environments is preferred.
  • Experience working at an early-stage company or on a lean team is preferred.
  • Experience running structured outbound experiments and applying learnings to improve performance is preferred.
  • Familiarity with sales fundamentals such as pipeline math, conversion rates, and opportunity qualification is preferred.
  • Experience selling a differentiated or premium product where not every prospect was a fit is preferred.
