Description

  • Own the product vision for the Kotlin plugin and guide it toward fast, correct, and trustworthy IDE support.
  • Use IntelliJ IDEA with the Kotlin plugin daily to dogfood features, catch regressions, and validate developer experience.
  • Maintain and develop reference Kotlin projects that serve as showcases, conference demos, and regression testbeds.
  • Build prototypes and proofs of concept using AI coding agents to explore new capabilities.
  • Own and continuously adapt the plugin roadmap across short-term, mid-term, and long-term initiatives.
  • Align plugin planning with Kotlin compiler releases, IntelliJ IDEA release trains, and Android Studio constraints.
  • Define problem statements, success criteria, and scope for new features, and work with engineers to validate and refine them.
  • Represent key Kotlin personas and prioritize recurring pain points such as false positives, slow analysis, unreliable refactorings, onboarding issues, and AI agent integrations.
  • Run a monthly user interview pipeline to ground product decisions in real workflows.
  • Coordinate with the Kotlin language team, Developer Advocates, framework partners, Marketing, and other JetBrains teams.
  • Create external visibility through blog posts, meetup talks, conference previews, and feature announcements.

Requirements

  • Professional software development experience in Java or Kotlin is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical product management or a comparable role in a complex technical domain.
  • Experience as a hands-on product person who works directly in the product, not only through reports and meetings.
  • Experience with AI coding tools and agents, plus curiosity about how they affect developer workflows.
  • Ability to define clear roadmaps with problem statements, success criteria, and explicit trade-offs.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills for both technical peers and executive audiences.
  • Willingness to represent the product externally at conferences, in blog posts, and in community interactions.
  • Strong personal focus on developer experience and daily product quality.
  • Experience developing IntelliJ plugins or working with the IntelliJ Platform SDK is preferred.
  • Experience building evaluation pipelines, benchmarks, or quality measurement systems is preferred.
  • Experience giving technical talks or publishing content for developer audiences is preferred.
