Description

  • Design, build, and maintain high-quality backend applications.
  • Lead the backend systems roadmap with a focus on scalability and reliability.
  • Develop new features that improve customers’ shopping experiences.
  • Own and lead major product components from planning through deployment and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with ML engineers, product teams, and data scientists on data-driven features.
  • Foster alignment across teams and drive effective product development outcomes.
  • Provide strategic planning and execution for projects you oversee.
  • Support backend architecture for recommendation and personalization systems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend development experience with a strong record of project delivery.
  • Proficiency in backend languages such as Ruby or Go.
  • Strong foundation in unit testing and problem-solving.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to lead and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience building scalable solutions and architecture (preferred).
  • Experience with ML model development and iteration (preferred).
  • Experience developing applications using GraphQL (preferred).
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools like Datadog (preferred).
  • Experience with database management, particularly PostgreSQL and AWS OpenSearch (preferred).

  • Base pay range of $168,000 to $177,500 USD for Canadian-based candidates.
