Description

  • Lead a team of 2–3 engineers by setting technical direction and supporting delivery.
  • Design, build, and evolve Java backend services for campaign integrations, measurement, automation, and intelligent capabilities.
  • Lead technical design for integrations across Marketing Studio, campaign systems, marketing assets, CRM data, and platform services.
  • Build scalable systems for campaign reporting, attribution, analytics, recommendations, and AI-powered insights.
  • Develop backend orchestration, APIs, and feedback loops connecting AI capabilities to customer actions and outcomes.
  • Break complex initiatives into technical plans and guide architecture, dependencies, tradeoffs, and delivery risks.
  • Coach and mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, feedback, and technical guidance.
  • Partner with Product, UX, Design, ML, and data science teams to translate customer problems into effective technical solutions.
  • Drive alignment across engineering teams working on shared services, data systems, integrations, and campaign infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Significant experience designing, building, and operating production backend systems.
  • Strong Java skills and experience with Kafka, MySQL, or comparable backend technologies.
  • Experience technically leading a small engineering team while remaining hands-on in the codebase.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring engineers.
  • Strong knowledge of system design, scalability, reliability, performance, fault tolerance, testing, and observability.
  • Experience delivering AI-powered products, agentic workflows, recommendation systems, decisioning, personalization, or next-best-action experiences.
  • Experience working with complex, high-volume data and evaluating the relevance, explainability, trustworthiness, and impact of AI outputs.
  • Ability to partner with ML and data science teams to integrate and productionize models.
  • Strong product judgment, customer empathy, and ability to communicate complex AI concepts to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Preferred: experience with recommendation systems, CRM or marketing data integrations, marketing technology, or Python and other backend languages.
