Description

  • Manage strategy for employment-related disputes, including wage and hour, discrimination, and retaliation matters.
  • Provide advice on non-employment claims such as service-related incidents, professional liability matters, and other operational risks.
  • Draft and respond to attorney demand letters and other pre-litigation correspondence.
  • Partner with People, Operations, and leadership teams to provide practical legal advice for compliant decision-making.
  • Identify systemic legal risks and develop scalable solutions using data, technology, and trend analysis.
  • Help manage outside counsel and litigation spend to improve efficiency and accountability.
  • Represent the company in administrative proceedings, including EEOC, CRD/DFEH, and similar agencies.
  • Build and enhance legal processes, playbooks, and training materials to improve consistency and speed of legal guidance.
  • Support internal investigations and sensitive employee matters.
  • Work closely with the Deputy General Counsel and Risk Management & Litigation Specialist on legal matters across the company.

Requirements

  • J.D. and active bar membership.
  • 4–6 years of relevant legal experience.
  • Strong employment law and litigation experience, including disputes and administrative claims such as EEOC or state agency matters.
  • Deep knowledge of California wage and hour law.
  • Familiarity with multi-state employment compliance.
  • Experience drafting employment documents or contributing to motions, pleadings, and litigation strategy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business guidance.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to dig into issues, ask thoughtful questions, and challenge assumptions.
  • Practical, solutions-oriented mindset that balances legal risk with business needs.
  • Preferred: in-house experience or advising high-growth, multi-state employers.
  • Preferred: experience with workers’ compensation, insurance claims, professional liability, or commercial disputes.
  • Preferred: familiarity with healthcare, non-medical home care, or franchise models.
  • Preferred: interest in technology, data, and AI-driven legal solutions.
