Description

  • Architect and scale core phone platform components, including CPaaS abstractions, provider adapters, and messaging/voice APIs.
  • Own phone billing end to end, including usage metering, rating, reconciliation, audit trails, and idempotency.
  • Lead the evolution of trust and compliance systems into a configurable, rules-based platform.
  • Drive improvements in reliability, latency, and throughput across high-concurrency APIs and workflows.
  • Build and maintain observability, alerting, and incident response practices for technical and financial invariants.
  • Work hands-on with backend technologies including NestJS, Firestore, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, queueing systems, data warehousing systems, and service mesh microservices.
  • Partner with product, infrastructure, security, finance, and legal teams on data integrity, access control, and compliance.
  • Develop engineering managers and senior engineers, and strengthen succession planning and hiring standards.
  • Participate in design reviews, deep dives, and on-call rotations to support operational excellence.
  • Use LLMs and AI tools to write, refactor, test, and debug code with guardrails for reliability.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of backend engineering experience with 2+ years of leadership experience.
  • Proven experience designing fault-tolerant systems operating at billions of hits or events.
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous job processing.
  • Experience in transactional domains such as metering, ledgers, billing, or payments, with working knowledge of idempotency, exactly-once semantics, and reconciliation.
  • Strong experience with relational and NoSQL data models, especially for complex transactional data.
  • Experience designing policy- or rules-driven systems that adapt to external requirements.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, SLOs, and root-cause analysis in production.
  • Familiarity with hallucination mitigation strategies for AI-assisted coding.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, including with Finance, Legal, and external partners.
  • Preferred: experience with usage-based billing or metering engines handling millions of transactional events per hour.
  • Preferred: exposure to telecom trust and compliance regimes such as 10DLC, toll-free verification, TCPA/TSR, DLT, carrier filtering, or number portability.
  • Preferred: experience building provider-agnostic integration layers across multiple third-party vendors.
  • Preferred: experience with AI tools and communication APIs such as Twilio or Plivo.
  • Preferred: contributions to open-source tools, internal platforms, or engineering blogs.
