Description

  • Own PJM market entry, including strategy development and profit-and-loss generation.
  • Lead the build-out of proprietary trading activity in the PJM market.
  • Identify and monetize structural inefficiencies in PJM market dynamics.
  • Develop and scale profitable trading strategies, including trade selection and risk positioning.
  • Translate market insight into systematic signals, backtests, and repeatable trading frameworks.
  • Partner with Quant, Data Science, and Engineering teams to productionize strategies and improve model performance.
  • Operate within defined risk limits and maintain stop-loss, exposure control, and escalation processes.
  • Decompose trading performance into key drivers and feed insights back into strategy iteration.
  • Help shape the desk’s integration of quantitative models, risk frameworks, and automated workflows.
  • Work through market insight, strategy design, execution, and performance refinement in an ambiguous build-phase environment.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of PJM market structure, including Day-Ahead and Real-Time dynamics, congestion formation, transmission constraints, and outage impacts.
  • Proven ability to originate, execute, and scale profitable trading strategies.
  • Demonstrated ownership of risk positioning, trade selection, and performance outcomes.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to inform trading decisions.
  • Hands-on experience using Python, including pandas and NumPy, for data analysis, strategy development, or workflow automation.
  • Experience operating within defined risk limits, including stop-loss frameworks, exposure controls, and escalation protocols.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Quant, Data Science, and Engineering teams to productionize strategies.
  • Expertise in decomposing PnL into drivers such as congestion, outages, and forecast errors.
  • Experience in semi-systematic or fully systematic trading environments, including signal generation, model validation, and automated execution.
  • Exposure to other ISOs such as ERCOT, MISO, SPP, CAISO, NYISO, or ISONE, with understanding of strategy portability across market designs.
  • Experience with statistical modeling, optimization, or machine learning applied to trading or forecasting problems.
  • Familiarity with SQL, cloud data environments, or scalable analytics workflows.
  • Experience contributing to internal tools or trading infrastructure.
  • Ability to take a market from initial entry to scaled operation by defining processes, frameworks, and strategy architecture.
  • Strong commercial judgment and comfort operating with high autonomy and accountability.
