Description

  • Own features end-to-end across the stack, from Go APIs and data models through the execution pipeline to TypeScript/React user workflows.
  • Design and evolve system architecture for scheduling, probe lifecycle, telemetry ingestion, and API design.
  • Build cross-product and AI-assisted workflows that connect Synthetic Monitoring with the wider Grafana Cloud platform.
  • Make the product operable at enterprise scale with governance and organization primitives for teams managing large numbers of checks.
  • Break down complex, ambiguous problems into incremental deliverables and iterate based on feedback.
  • Ensure quality through testing, observability, and documentation.
  • Participate in the team’s on-call rotation and take ownership of the services you run.
  • Work across backend Go services and agents as well as the frontend application as one system.

Requirements

  • Remote applicants must be located in Spain, Sweden, the UK, Ireland, or Germany.
  • Strong Go experience, or a path to it.
  • Deep experience building and operating production backend systems in another systems language such as Rust, Java, or C++ is acceptable.
  • Backend experience limited to JavaScript/Node.js runtimes is not sufficient.
  • Operational experience owning production services and carrying a pager.
  • Strong systems-thinking skills with an understanding of data flow, failure modes, cost, and operational behavior.
  • Ability to communicate design decisions clearly in written and spoken English.
  • Comfort working in a remote-first, consensus-driven environment with collaborative, respectful communication.
  • Ability to work independently, design solutions, get feedback, and build prototypes quickly.
  • User-centered product thinking and familiarity with AI tools in an engineering workflow.
  • Preferred: experience designing or operating multi-tenant SaaS systems at scale.
  • Preferred: experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, or Sentry.
  • Preferred: experience with Kubernetes in production.
  • Preferred: familiarity with k6, Playwright, or browser automation at scale.
  • Preferred: experience contributing to or maintaining open source projects.

  • Base compensation in Germany of EUR 76,000–EUR 95,000, depending on level, experience, and skillset.
