Description

  • Manage the physical "Metal" environment from bare metal through Kubernetes.
  • Manage cluster networking components, including load balancing, NAT, DNS, CNIs, cross-cluster communication, routing, and related architecture.
  • Own scheduling and autoscaling for platform clusters.
  • Maintain Crossplane compositions and Terraform modules for shared cloud resources.
  • Manage versioning and compatibility across Crossplane, Terraform core, and providers.
  • Work with Grafana Cloud application teams to understand their needs and invest in the right platform capabilities.
  • Contribute to the full software lifecycle, including design docs, developer feedback, and integration testing.
  • Operate code in production and participate in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • Remote candidates must be located in the UK, Spain, or Ireland.
  • Experience working with engineers and collaborating in a remote-first environment.
  • Comfort working with distributed systems.
  • Interest in learning and growing in a highly collaborative team.
  • Holistic development approach with experience across the full code lifecycle.
  • Experience operating your own code in production.
  • Datacenter experience.
  • Experience or willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Bonus/preferred: experience with Cluster-API, Tinkerbell, Talos, or Ceph.
  • Bonus/preferred: experience with one or more cloud providers, especially AWS, GCP, or Azure and their managed Kubernetes services (EKS, GKE, AKS).
  • Bonus/preferred: experience operating Kubernetes workloads, including Tanka and Jsonnet.
  • Bonus/preferred: familiarity with Kubernetes scheduling and tools like Karpenter.
  • Bonus/preferred: Terraform and/or Crossplane experience.
  • Bonus/preferred: programming experience in Go.
  • Bonus/preferred: experience in open source or community-based projects.
