Description

  • Design and implement scalable integrations for infrastructure components, databases, and applications.
  • Create middleware components, SDKs, and libraries that simplify observability solution development and maintenance.
  • Work with product, design, and documentation teams to develop features aligned with customer needs and product strategy.
  • Support the technical direction and long-term vision of the observability team.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Support to deliver a cohesive customer experience.
  • Participate in follow-the-sun on-call rotations and take ownership of the services you run.
  • Represent Grafana Labs in open source forums, working groups, and events when needed.
  • Contribute to related open-source projects, including work beyond the immediate team scope.
  • Help shape technical implementation and strategic discussions with upstream community and internal stakeholders.
  • Mentor other team members and identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with at least one programming language; Go is used, but experience in Python, .NET, Java, Rust, or similar languages is acceptable.
  • Willingness to learn Go if you do not already have Go experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of at least one major cloud provider, including core services, APIs, identity and access models, networking, and operational patterns.
  • Experience with cloud-based software development and production systems.
  • Experience writing clean, maintainable, robust, and performant software.
  • Familiarity with observability tooling such as Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, and OpenTelemetry.
  • Experience driving projects from ideation to production.
  • Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Experience participating in an on-call rotation and incident management.
  • Preferred: experience designing and building observability backends for various systems and applications.
  • Preferred: experience contributing to or maintaining open source projects with successful pull requests and community collaboration.
  • Preferred: understanding of metrics collection, visualization, and alerting concepts.
  • Strong communication skills and an independent, transparent working style suited to a remote-first team.
  • Location requirement: candidates should be based in the UK, Spain, Germany, or Sweden.
