Description

  • Design, implement, test, and operate database components including ingestion, query planning, distributed execution, and data and storage formats.
  • Build a multi-tenant SaaS database foundation with tenant isolation, usage tracking, quotas, audit logs, background jobs, and reliable service boundaries.
  • Develop APIs and database interfaces for AI agents, MCP tools, CLIs, and internal applications.
  • Balance rapid experimentation with long-term reliability as the platform evolves from prototype to production.
  • Instrument services with metrics, logs, traces, alerts, and dashboards to improve reliability.
  • Shape architecture, service boundaries, storage choices, API contracts, deployment patterns, and engineering practices.
  • Own database solutions from design through operation, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and alignment with user workflows.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate across product, infrastructure, and engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Experience building production-grade, user-facing software systems and delivering software used in production.
  • Strong programming ability in Go, C++, Rust, or a similar language.
  • Experience with distributed systems, catalogs and table formats, and query engines.
  • Familiarity with AI technologies and frameworks, with a practical delivery mindset.
  • Ability to work autonomously, define scope, make architectural decisions, and operate effectively amid ambiguity.
  • Experience iterating quickly through prototypes, feedback, and experimentation.
  • Experience working in cloud-native environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Experience using observability tools to troubleshoot and understand system behavior.
  • Experience building distributed query engines, data warehouses or lakes, or data engineering tools (preferred).
