Description

  • Design, build, and iterate algorithmic delivery-fee strategies that balance conversion, customer experience, and profitability.
  • Develop optimization and machine-learning approaches for order batching, driver assignment, and routing to reduce delivery costs while maintaining speed and reliability.
  • Build calibrated location-and-time-level demand forecasts to inform driver supply planning, scheduling, incentives, and pricing.
  • Design and analyze A/B, switchback, and geo/market-level experiments, applying causal inference to measure customer and business impact.
  • Own solutions end to end, from problem framing and feature/model development through deployment, monitoring, explanation, and improvement.
  • Partner with product, engineering, operations, and finance teams to translate ambiguous business questions into technical objectives and shipped solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for machine learning, optimization, and causal inference through deep understanding of customers, delivery partners, and platform data.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with 2+ years of experience in delivery, logistics, marketplace, or pricing problems; or 8+ years of data science industry experience.
  • Strong background in at least two areas: pricing/revenue optimization, mathematical optimization, time-series and demand forecasting, or experimentation and causal inference.
  • Hands-on experience designing experiments for two-sided or operational marketplaces, including switchback or cluster-randomized designs and variance reduction.
  • Expertise in machine learning and statistics.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and source control.
  • Experience shipping models to production with engineering teams.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into clear technical objectives and measurable results.
  • Experience in on-demand delivery, ride-hailing, or gig-economy marketplaces (preferred).
  • Familiarity with optimization solvers such as OR-Tools or Gurobi and forecasting libraries (preferred).
  • Experience with ETA prediction or driver incentive and pay design (preferred).
