Description

Manage a team of intermediate and senior Solutions Architects across the UK and Ireland, with potential expansion into additional regional markets.
Act as a player-coach on strategic opportunities, including executive relationship building and hands-on support for complex sales cycles.
Lead technical evaluations, executive workshops, demos, and proof-of-concept engagements.
Translate customer requirements into meaningful technical and business outcomes.
Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Channel, Marketing, Sales Enablement, Product Management, and the global Solutions Architecture team.
Manage dotted-line relationships with Channel Solutions Architects and subject matter experts.
Maintain operational discipline across workload planning, resource allocation, headcount planning, opportunity forecasting, and field execution.
Define, track, and communicate team KPIs, risks, priorities, and progress to stakeholders.
Hire, develop, and retain high-performing Solutions Architects while building a scalable regional organization.
Strengthen regional operating practices and execution across UK/I.

Requirements

Experience managing technical teams in software/technology sales, pre-sales, consulting, or a related environment.
Direct experience in the UK and Ireland; exposure to Sweden or the Netherlands is a plus.
Strong background in solution architecture or comparable practical experience.
Proven success developing, mentoring, and scaling Solutions Architecture practices or similar customer-facing technical organizations.
Strong communication and technical presentation skills across technical and business audiences.
Demonstrated business acumen and sound judgment.
Track record of influencing cross-functional stakeholders and building strong partnerships.
Experience building inclusive, high-performing teams in a distributed or remote environment.
Curiosity for AI and a habit of using AI tools in day-to-day work.
Ability and willingness to travel as needed in line with GitLab's travel policy.
Must be based in the UK or Ireland.
