Description

  • Manage a team of intermediate and senior Solutions Architects across the UK and Ireland, with potential expansion into additional regional markets.
  • Act as a player-coach on strategic opportunities, including executive relationship building and hands-on support for complex sales cycles.
  • Lead technical evaluations, executive workshops, demos, and proof-of-concept engagements.
  • Translate customer requirements into meaningful technical and business outcomes.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Channel, Marketing, Sales Enablement, Product Management, and the global Solutions Architecture team.
  • Manage dotted-line relationships with Channel Solutions Architects and subject matter experts.
  • Maintain operational discipline across workload planning, resource allocation, headcount planning, opportunity forecasting, and field execution.
  • Define, track, and communicate team KPIs, risks, priorities, and progress to stakeholders.
  • Hire, develop, and retain high-performing Solutions Architects while building a scalable regional organization.
  • Strengthen regional operating practices and execution across UK/I.

Requirements

  • Experience managing technical teams in software/technology sales, pre-sales, consulting, or a related environment.
  • Direct experience in the UK and Ireland; exposure to Sweden or the Netherlands is a plus.
  • Strong background in solution architecture or comparable practical experience.
  • Proven success developing, mentoring, and scaling Solutions Architecture practices or similar customer-facing technical organizations.
  • Strong communication and technical presentation skills across technical and business audiences.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and sound judgment.
  • Track record of influencing cross-functional stakeholders and building strong partnerships.
  • Experience building inclusive, high-performing teams in a distributed or remote environment.
  • Curiosity for AI and a habit of using AI tools in day-to-day work.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed in line with GitLab's travel policy.
  • Must be based in the UK or Ireland.
