Description

  • Manage and mentor a team of software engineers through regular one-on-ones, delegation, and growth feedback.
  • Own team delivery by breaking down work, coordinating across teams, and shipping on ambitious timelines.
  • Maintain a high bar for production code through thorough code reviews and merge/deployment decisions.
  • Drive architecture and technical design for Fundrise services and help shape a long-term team roadmap.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and other Engineering stakeholders to implement complex functionality quickly.
  • Champion application security in a regulated financial services environment.
  • Own production monitoring and triage across internal services and third-party integrations.
  • Write code daily and contribute hands-on engineering support as part of team execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Deep expertise in Java, Spring / Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
  • 3+ years leading and managing engineers, including 1:1s, candid feedback, and ownership of team delivery, quality, and growth.
  • 4+ years building and maintaining production applications on AWS.
  • Experience with AWS services such as ECS, CDK, S3, SQS, Lambda, DynamoDB, and WAF.
  • Deep understanding of transactional database design and operations.
  • Track record of improving existing systems in operationally complex environments.
  • Experience building and maintaining secure software, including understanding common threats and secure coding principles (preferred).
  • Comfort tackling ambiguous problems and rapidly learning new languages and frameworks (preferred).
  • Experience managing high-performing engineering teams (preferred).
  • Ability to work remotely from the United States, with Washington, D.C. metro area strongly preferred.
