Description

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers through one-on-ones, delegation, and feedback.
  • Own team delivery by scoping work, coordinating across teams, and shipping against timelines.
  • Set technical direction, drive service design and architecture, and maintain a long-term team roadmap.
  • Contribute hands-on to software engineering and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Maintain a high bar for production code through code reviews and merge and deployment decisions.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and Engineering stakeholders to deliver complex functionality.
  • Champion application security across services in a regulated financial-services environment.
  • Own production monitoring and incident triage for internal services and third-party integrations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Deep expertise in Java, Spring/Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
  • 3+ years of experience leading and managing engineers, including one-on-ones, performance feedback, and delivery ownership.
  • 4+ years building and maintaining production applications on AWS, including ECS, CDK, S3, SQS, Lambda, DynamoDB, and WAF.
  • Deep understanding of transactional database design and operations.
  • Track record of improving existing systems in operationally complex environments.
  • Experience building and maintaining secure software, including knowledge of common threats and secure coding principles (preferred).
  • Ability to rapidly learn new languages and frameworks and solve ambiguous problems (preferred).
  • Experience managing high-performing engineering teams and working backward from business outcomes to engineering decisions (preferred).
