Description

  • Serve as the first technology responder for escalated issues across Product, Customer Support, and Operations teams.
  • Monitor production systems for performance, availability, reliability, and incident trends.
  • Respond to and manage production incidents, including triage, root cause analysis, and follow-up fixes.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize monitoring and alerting systems.
  • Analyze system performance and collaborate with engineering teams to improve application and infrastructure reliability.
  • Implement capacity planning, scaling strategies, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
  • Automate repetitive tasks and maintain scripts and tools for system management and monitoring.
  • Implement SRE practices, including SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets.
  • Maintain documentation, playbooks, runbooks, and regular system health and performance reports.
  • Partner with SaaS vendors and internal teams to resolve platform issues and ensure changes are reliable and scalable.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering, production support, system administration, or a related role.
  • Experience supporting applications in a banking environment is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of SRE principles and practices.
  • Solid Linux/Unix command-line knowledge, including tools such as grep, awk, sed, and top.
  • Basic ability to read and modify Bash or Python scripts.
  • Foundational knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, and SSH.
  • Familiarity with Grafana dashboards and automated alerts.
  • Ability to write basic SQL queries using SELECT, JOIN, and WHERE.
  • Basic experience using Postman for API testing and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of banking operations and the importance of accuracy in ACH and file movements.
  • Knowledge of incident management workflows in Jira or ServiceNow.
  • Basic knowledge of Git and conceptual understanding of AWS and Kubernetes.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders during outages.
  • Systematic root cause analysis skills, such as Five Whys or 8D.
  • Ability to work independently in a follow-the-sun support model with rotating on-call and weekend releases.
  • Must be able to work shift hours between 7:00 a.m. PST and 8:00 p.m. PST with rotating weekly on-call shifts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving, and time management abilities.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, results-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
