Description

  • Oversee recruitment by coordinating with state leadership, identifying staffing needs, and building candidate pipelines.
  • Manage job postings, interview coordination, offer extensions, and background checks.
  • Lead new hire orientation and ensure employees are accurately onboarded into the HRIS.
  • Respond to employment-related questions from applicants, employees, and supervisors and escalate sensitive issues as needed.
  • Maintain HR files, records, and documentation in the HRIS and complete periodic audits.
  • Support payroll by answering employee questions, resolving processing errors, and auditing timesheets weekly.
  • Assist with HR clerical work and coordinate special events such as open enrollment, staff meetings, and employee recognition events.
  • Monitor the HR shared inbox and handle mail, notices, and employment verification requests from state agencies.
  • Troubleshoot HR-related technical issues in state offices involving recruiting, onboarding, and other processes.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for state staff on minor employee relations issues and collaborate across departments.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of Human Resources recruiting and onboarding experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic HR laws and policies, including Title VII, FMLA, FLSA, ADA, EEO, ACA, and Workers Compensation regulations.
  • Experience working with Applicant Tracking Systems and entering information into HRIS systems.
  • Familiarity with G-Suite applications, including Google Docs and Sheets.
  • Prior payroll and benefits experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in a nonprofit, social welfare, or issue advocacy organization preferred.
  • Labor relations experience in a union environment preferred.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, tact, discretion, and professionalism in oral and written communication.
  • Willingness to work a full-time, exempt role with normal hours from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time, with occasional evening, weekend, holiday, and blackout-period work.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% and periodically work from Washington, DC or state office locations.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $63,000 to $70,000, based on experience.
  • Health insurance coverage that is 95% employer-paid and 5% employee-paid.
  • Paid parental leave.

  • $150 monthly cell phone and internet reimbursement.
  • 13 days of paid time off each calendar year plus paid holidays.
  • Remote work option until further notice.
