Description

  • Own Foodsmart’s ROI and clinical outcomes methodology for identifying high-impact member populations and quantifying value for members and payers.
  • Represent the methodology directly to payers and external actuarial firms and defend it under technical scrutiny.
  • Build a scalable ROI and evidence framework that can extend to new populations and payer conversations.
  • Lead Foodsmart’s clinical research agenda, including white papers, publications, and external research outputs.
  • Partner with the clinical team to translate research findings and best practices into care delivery.
  • Serve as the internal expert on clinical outcomes and inform the broader external value story.
  • Lead and develop a small team while remaining hands-on with core research and methodology work.
  • Use AI and other tooling to extend research throughput and analytical reach.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required in health economics, biostatistics, epidemiology, economics, or a related quantitative field; PhD strongly preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience as a health economist or actuary with a track record of building and defending ROI and value-based care methodology.
  • 4+ years of team leadership experience.
  • Published white papers or peer-reviewed research experience.
  • Deep hands-on expertise in causal inference, including matched cohort design, risk adjustment, and quasi-experimental methods.
  • Deep hands-on experience with healthcare claims data, including medical and pharmacy (Rx) claims.
  • Direct experience presenting ROI and outcomes methodology to payers, actuaries, or similarly technical external audiences.
  • Experience partnering with clinical or care delivery teams to translate research into practice.
  • Comfort working directly with data in SQL, R, or Python, plus experience building automation with data modeling, AI tooling, and dashboarding.
  • Familiarity with AI-native tooling such as Claude Code or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
