Description

  • Own the end-to-end data lifecycle, from warehouse ingestion through modeling and delivery to stakeholders and systems.
  • Architect and manage pipeline orchestration, the dbt project, and warehouse infrastructure for performance and reliability.
  • Define data quality, freshness, and accessibility standards through SLAs, observability, and data contracts.
  • Translate ambiguous business needs into technical roadmaps and scalable architectural solutions.
  • Lead the evolution of foundational models using dimensional modeling, star schemas, and semantic/context layers.
  • Partner with Analytics and Data Science to establish platform standards and clear ownership boundaries.
  • Mentor and scale a distributed data engineering team across domestic and offshore talent.
  • Drive technical excellence through design reviews, RFCs, and code audits.
  • Support Finance, revenue cycle management, billing, member lifecycle, and reporting data operations.
  • Lead HIPAA compliance for PHI access, deidentification, and audit readiness in partnership with Security.
  • Establish governance and safety guardrails for responsible AI use in engineering workflows.
  • Design the context layer for AI-powered analytics tools so insights remain accurate and dependable.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering or platform roles, including 4+ years leading and scaling teams.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
  • Experience with orchestration frameworks such as Dagster or Airflow.
  • Expert-level dbt experience, including large-scale project architecture and semantic layer implementation.
  • Experience integrating dbt with BI tools such as Looker or Omni.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills, plus advanced dimensional modeling experience.
  • Proven experience building CI/CD pipelines and automated data quality testing in dbt ecosystems.
  • Ability to influence without authority across cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Experience as a strategic technical partner to Analytics and Data Science teams.
  • Experience managing distributed teams, including domestic and offshore collaborators.
  • Professional fluency in HIPAA and experience with sensitive healthcare data such as claims, eligibility, and clinical records.
  • Experience with AI-native development tools such as Cursor or Claude Code.
