Description

  • Own support for a portfolio of production PostgreSQL/RDS instances, including query review, schema change approval, performance tuning, and incident triage.
  • Operate and improve the Kafka/MSK streaming platform, including topic lifecycle management, cluster health, and CDC pipeline reliability.
  • Build and maintain self-service tooling for database and streaming resource provisioning.
  • Drive platform stability work such as operator and version upgrades, recurring issue fixes, and capacity or cost optimization.
  • Serve as the technical escalation point for incidents tied to shared data infrastructure.
  • Represent Platform Storage in cross-functional infrastructure and standardization efforts.
  • Mentor engineers and participate in on-call rotations.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or database engineering.
  • Deep hands-on production experience running PostgreSQL (RDS) at scale.
  • Strong experience operating Kafka (MSK or self-managed) in production.
  • Strong SQL fluency and ability to diagnose query performance issues.
  • Infrastructure as Code expertise with Terraform.
  • Experience managing production database reliability across multiple downstream teams.
  • Strong cross-team communication and technical partnership skills.
  • Experience with GitOps-managed Kubernetes operators such as Strimzi or equivalent (nice to have).
  • MongoDB or DynamoDB operational experience (nice to have).
  • Experience with pgbouncer, connection pooling, and query-level performance diagnostics (nice to have).
  • Prior platform cost optimization experience at multi-cluster scale (nice to have).
  • Exposure to regulated or high-availability environments such as gaming or fintech (nice to have).

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $172,800 to $216,000 USD.
  • Bonus eligibility.
  • Full-time employment.
