Description

  • Own and lead the agriculture program strategy, including the multi-year vision and annual workplan.
  • Build state and national government partnerships with ministries of agriculture, state governments, and meteorological agencies.
  • Manage delivery partner and research collaborator relationships to ensure cost-effective, high-quality forecast delivery.
  • Design, launch, and evaluate scaling pilots across dissemination channels such as SMS, WhatsApp, radio, and telco partnerships.
  • Test and expand new forecast products, including dryspell and short-run forecasts, with rigorous learning agendas.
  • Translate between forecasting researchers, AI labs, NGOs, funders, and government counterparts, communicating technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Recruit, coach, and manage country leads, state-level staff, and partner teams.
  • Embed measurement, feedback loops, and cost-effectiveness analysis into the program.
  • Work with M&E researchers to build the evidence base over time.
  • Operate in ambiguous, fast-moving environments while identifying and pursuing new geographies and problem spaces.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in international development, with strong preference for direct experience in agriculture, weather forecasting, smallholder advisory services, agricultural extension, value chain interventions, or rural last-mile delivery.
  • Proven track record of scaling organizations or programs to deliver last-mile impact at the farmer level.
  • Experience in a high-rigor environment such as top-tier management consulting, high-growth NGO program leadership, or strategy/economics research.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technical areas, including AI/ML forecasting concepts.
  • Demonstrated success leading agriculture or rural development programs from idea to scaled delivery across multi-stakeholder coalitions.
  • Strong people management and team-building experience across distributed and field-based teams.
  • Experience working with Asian and/or African governments, with strong preference for Indian state governments, ministries of agriculture, or national meteorological agencies.
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to influence diverse stakeholders, from researchers to frontline staff to senior government officials.
  • Strong fluency with AI tools and comfort experimenting with emerging technologies.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally approximately 20-40%, with significant time in India and other priority geographies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. for U.S.-based roles; the company is unable to sponsor or take over U.S. visa sponsorship at this time.
