Description

  • Act as the lead engineer on large or complex client deployment projects.
  • Lead product engineering projects to further develop the service.
  • Provide AWS subject matter expertise to pre-sales architects.
  • Install, configure, and manage operating systems and AWS services.
  • Implement and maintain custom client machine images and centralized configuration management for repeatable builds and auto-scaling.
  • Maintain high availability through proactive operational measures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Keep clients and partners updated on work status and issue progress.
  • Raise, investigate, and resolve problems and known errors through the problem management process.
  • Improve ways of working, automation, and processes through continual improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in an on-call rota to provide 24x7 4th line support for AWS clients.
  • Stay current on AWS services and developments.
  • Buddy new team members and train other teams.
  • Act as team leader and technical escalation point in the manager’s absence.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience supporting highly customer-focused, mission-critical environments.
  • 3+ years of experience engineering, architecting, or supporting AWS solutions.
  • Strong operating system knowledge in Linux or Windows, with basic knowledge of the other.
  • MCSE, RHCE, or equivalent level of knowledge preferred.
  • Experience implementing and supporting AWS services such as EC2, S3, EBS, ELB, RDS, IAM, Route53, CloudFront, ElastiCache, and WAF.
  • Current AWS Associate and Professional certifications required.
  • At least one AWS Certified Specialty certification, such as Security or Networking, required.
  • Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, and Ansible.
  • Scripting ability in one or more of Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Perl.
  • Experience using Git for version control preferred.
  • Experience supporting containerized environments such as ECS, EKS, Kubernetes, or Docker.
  • Experience with Jenkins or other CI/CD pipeline technologies preferred.
  • Good knowledge of TCP/IP.
  • Degree in a computing-related discipline preferred, or equivalent ability and knowledge.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in an ITIL environment preferred.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
  • Client-focused, results-driven, and able to simplify complex problems.
  • Able to serve as a role model within the team.
