Description

  • Provide formal mentorship to less experienced associates and review lower-complexity work.
  • Own high- and moderate-complexity assignments and work independently with minimal direction.
  • Install and configure server operating systems and build or use OS provisioning repositories where available.
  • Write batch and shell scripts to automate computer systems tasks and gather information.
  • Review server performance, identify issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Document server design run books, installation instructions, and software upgrade procedures.
  • Build operating system patch deployment schedules and execute mass patch deployments efficiently.
  • Develop code deployment methodologies and create run books for others to follow.
  • Manage storage configurations and maintain working knowledge of SAN storage and related tools.
  • Participate in disaster recovery exercises and own assigned server tasks.
  • Maintain understanding of server hardware components, including blades, enclosures, and physical servers.
  • Collaborate with network and systems teams by applying knowledge of network design and system interactions.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 4 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, 3 years with a master's degree, a PhD without experience, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on administration of Windows OS environments.
  • 3+ years of hands-on administration of VMware environments.
  • 3+ years of hands-on administration with RHEL or other Linux environments.
  • 3+ years of hands-on administration of HP-UX OS environments.
  • 3+ years of hands-on administration of Solaris OS environments.
  • 3+ years of hands-on administration of AIX OS environments.
  • ITIL Foundations certification preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) preferred for Windows platforms.
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) preferred for VMware platforms.
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator preferred for Linux platforms.
  • HP-UX Certified System Administration preferred for HPUX platforms.
  • Oracle Solaris 10 System Administrator Certified Professional preferred for Solaris platforms.
  • IBM Certified System Administrator - AIX 7 preferred for AIX platforms.
  • Travel required at 10%-20%.
