Description

  • Provide timely customer service and support for mainframe network requests and issues across z/OS environments.
  • Install, upgrade, and customize mainframe network and related ISV/OEM software according to best practices and company standards.
  • Serve as primary support for reported problems involving mainframe network components and related software products.
  • Provide 24 x 7 x 365 support across multiple time zones.
  • Support customer migration activities for newly acquired clients, including resolving technical issues that could delay transitions.
  • Communicate issue status to customers and management throughout the resolution process.
  • Document issue cause, actions taken, and resolutions in the designated problem tracking system.
  • Collaborate with project managers, disaster recovery teams, and other technical teams to execute customer recovery and transition tasks.
  • Assist other mainframe teams as needed to support internal and client needs.
  • Follow ITSM change control procedures and maintain an efficient implementation schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in mainframe network programming support.
  • Thorough understanding of mainframe operating system principles and subsystem components.
  • Experience installing, upgrading, and customizing mainframe network-related ISV software products.
  • Knowledge and experience with SMP/E.
  • Experience defining, maintaining, and modifying mainframe network products.
  • Experience supporting transmission products such as FTP (SSL), sFTP (SSH), and Connect:Direct Secure (NDM).
  • Experience supporting session manager applications such as TPX and Supersession.
  • Experience developing mainframe network toolkits using NetMaster, NetView, Rexx, and CLISTs.
  • Experience maintaining mainframe network components including TCP/IP, DVIPA/DDVIPA, IPSEC, IPFILTER, IDS, Enterprise Extender, SNA, VTAM, APPN, and OSA connectivity.
  • Experience with TCP/IP encryption methods including IPSEC, AT-TLS, and TLS, plus monitoring of protocols and ciphers.
  • Experience using network monitoring tools such as Omegamon, Mainview, Mainframe Tracing, and sniffers for performance and response troubleshooting.
  • Ability to develop innovation, strategies, processes, and best practices in software management.
  • Experience supporting planned disaster recovery and unplanned emergency recovery activities.
  • Knowledge of best practices for software management, maintenance, and documentation.
  • Experience establishing policies and procedures for database management, disaster recovery, security, maintenance, and utilization.
  • Ability to evaluate change requests, assess client impact, and troubleshoot production database issues.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Strong analytical skills for rapid problem determination and root cause isolation.
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively to support requests from multiple clients.
  • Ability to multitask and work under short deadlines and high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
