Description

  • Lead the core Accounting leadership team, including Assistant Controller/GL, AR, Payroll, and Tax.
  • Raise the operating bar by clarifying decision rights, increasing accountability, and reducing unnecessary escalation.
  • Build and develop a high-performing leadership team with stronger judgment and independence.
  • Scale AI and automation across Accounting to reduce manual work and increase operating leverage.
  • Modernize the 5-day close to make it faster, cleaner, and less manual.
  • Own technical accounting decisions and serve as a senior decision-maker on complex accounting and operational issues.
  • Drive cross-functional execution across Product, Finance, Tax, Legal, Credit, Fraud, Sales, People, and Systems.
  • Prepare the accounting function for growth in transaction volume, new revenue streams, international expansion, and card receivables.
  • Strengthen ownership across revenue, AR, payroll, tax, consolidations, reconciliations, and reporting.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience in a high-growth environment.
  • Experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or in an equivalent leadership role.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • A track record of improving and scaling an accounting function, not just maintaining it.
  • Proven ability to develop talent, raise performance standards, and build leadership depth.
  • An AI-native, automation-forward operating style with success reducing manual work.
  • Strong multi-entity close, consolidation, reconciliation, and financial statement experience.
  • Deep technical accounting knowledge across ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 718, reserves, and other judgment-heavy areas.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to make decisions quickly with incomplete information.
  • Travel, marketplace, fintech, payments, card-program, or high-volume transaction accounting experience is preferred.
  • International accounting experience, including intercompany, FX, VAT/GST, transfer-pricing support, or statutory reporting, is preferred.
  • Experience with NetSuite and modern close, reconciliation, workflow, BI, automation, and AI tools is preferred.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $199,000 to $260,000 USD.
  • Competitive base pay with opportunities for bonuses, commissions, equity, and/or variable pay (OTE).
