Description

  • Develop TEACH’s new state business development pipeline by building connections, securing initial meetings, and pitching the organization to prospective partners.
  • Create and execute strategies to build new relationships and secure ongoing contracts with state partners.
  • Oversee the processes and systems that support new business development and partnership tracking.
  • Set up and manage a system to track legislation and state budgets to identify partnership opportunities.
  • Raise TEACH’s profile among decision-makers and influencers through conferences, advocacy groups, and other external channels.
  • Track contract renewals and lead strategies to secure ongoing funding from existing state partners.
  • Oversee efforts to obtain legislated funding in states where TEACH does not yet have it, including potentially managing a lobbyist.
  • Protect, maintain, or increase legislated funding in states where TEACH already has it, including potentially managing a lobbyist.
  • Secure foundation grants to support general operating funds, special projects, or SEA contract subsidies.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of success building partnerships for nonprofits, government agencies, or other mission-driven organizations.
  • Strong external communication skills with the ability to share TEACH’s mission and inspire support from diverse audiences.
  • Experience building authentic relationships with community partners, policymakers, funders, and other supporters.
  • Demonstrated commitment to TEACH’s mission and vision for attracting and retaining diverse talent in teaching.
  • Cultural competence and self-reflection, with the ability to lead direct conversations about race, class, ethnicity, income, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, and other differences.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, especially for grant proposals, reports, and persuasive materials.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage organizational profile and reputation.
  • Demonstrated success raising dollars from foundations, preferred.
