Description

  • Build the core editing experience for Descript’s video and audio creation platform.
  • Design and implement traditional editing features such as timeline editing, effects, and animations.
  • Integrate in-house and third-party AI functionality into the editing workflow.
  • Support the data model and cross-client systems that manage project state.
  • Build media management features that help organizations collaborate on Descript as a team.
  • Own technical solutions while balancing product experience and user needs.
  • Collaborate with product, design, research, and AI engineering partners on feature development.
  • Contribute to a broad suite of editing tools that expand the platform’s capabilities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional fullstack software engineering experience.
  • Expertise in TypeScript, React, and RESTful APIs.
  • Solid computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and databases.
  • Experience with Postgres and Redis.
  • Experience building creative tools, or frequent use of creative media tools.
  • High degree of ownership and accountability.
  • Strong understanding of system design principles.
  • Ability to integrate customer needs into technical decisions.
  • Experience working in collaborative cross-functional environments, including with product, design, research, and AI engineering.
  • Senior-or-higher-equivalent experience preferred.
