Description

  • Build the core editing and streaming platform for Descript’s audio and video creation experience.
  • Develop traditional editing functionality such as timeline editing, effects, and animations.
  • Integrate in-house and third-party AI features to enhance the editing experience.
  • Support the data model and systems that manage project state across clients.
  • Build media management features that help organizations collaborate on Descript.
  • Own technical solutions while balancing product quality and user experience.
  • Collaborate with product, design, research, and AI engineering partners on product development.
  • Contribute to the expansion of the editor product’s capabilities for a wide range of creative workflows.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional fullstack software engineering experience.
  • Expertise in TypeScript, React, and RESTful APIs.
  • Solid computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and databases.
  • Experience with Postgres and Redis.
  • Experience building creative tools, or frequent use of creative media tools.
  • Strong understanding of system design principles.
  • Ability to integrate customer needs into technical decisions.
  • High degree of ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to thrive in collaborative cross-functional environments.
  • Senior-or-higher-equivalent experience is preferred for this role.
