Description

  • Manage 3-5 technical writer direct reports, including day-to-day oversight, project planning, performance support, and career development.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to create and maintain public documentation for users, developers, and SREs.
  • Research technical details by experimenting with the product, reviewing source code, and interviewing subject matter experts.
  • Collaborate with the contributor community and the broader Documentation team to improve documentation standards and processes.
  • Help users succeed with Datadog products, features, SDKs, APIs, and developer tools through high-quality documentation.
  • Support a positive team environment that encourages engagement and performance.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience researching and developing documentation for technical topics such as databases, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and performance and security monitoring.
  • 2-5 years of experience managing a small team of technical writers.
  • Publicly available technical writing samples.
  • Comfort reading at least two programming languages, such as Ruby, Python, Go, or bash.
  • Experience writing or managing documentation as code.
  • Familiarity with modern infrastructure, including IaaS cloud services and containers.
  • Experience with Git/GitHub and CI/CD tooling.
  • Experience partnering with product managers, developers, and other subject matter experts to create technical documentation.
  • Open to candidates who may not meet every qualification on day one, with encouragement to apply if they are passionate about technology and growth.
