Description

  • Perform technical evaluation and selection of owner’s engineering services.
  • Lead utility, regulatory, and AHJ interfaces during construction.
  • Review third-party engineering deliverables and approve detailed design analyses.
  • Support interconnection and permitting with technical documentation and AHJ coordination.
  • Conduct factory and project site visits to support construction activities.
  • Lead QA/QC to ensure projects meet design specifications and field implementation requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance during site acceptance testing and commissioning.
  • Develop specifications and evaluate BESS/PV technology and major equipment options.
  • Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve project execution processes and share technical knowledge with junior team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, civil/structural engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in design engineering with a focus on medium and low voltage power systems design.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in BESS/PV design, development, and/or construction.
  • Demonstrated competency in BESS, inverter, and PV technology, including safety systems, standards, and commercial applications.
  • Proficiency in power system analysis, system design, equipment specifications, and utility standards for medium-voltage and high-voltage projects.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and the MS Office suite.
  • Working knowledge of power system modeling tools such as ETAP or SKM.
  • Comprehensive understanding of NEC/NESC and industry standards including NFPA 855, UL 9540, UL 9540A, UL 1973, UL 1642, and UL 1741.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking, troubleshooting, and lessons learned to design optimization.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and maintain high accuracy in design and documentation.
  • Self-driven professional growth and alignment with Convergent’s mission and the clean energy transition.
  • Ability to perform physical activity as needed, including standing, walking, or lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Preferred: advanced degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Preferred: transmission substation or high-voltage infrastructure design experience.
  • Preferred: Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification.
