Description

  • Lead the advanced sales cycle by converting qualified opportunities into closed deals.
  • Build strong relationships with prospective customers and translate customer needs into winning solutions.
  • Develop compelling proposals by coordinating across internal teams and leveraging cross-functional expertise.
  • Negotiate and help close deals in advanced stages of the pipeline.
  • Prepare deal materials for senior management and investment committee review.
  • Partner with Pre-Construction and Legal teams to move projects from booked deal through Development Complete.
  • Ensure commercial alignment, mitigate risk, and drive client urgency to meet development milestones.
  • Own and maintain the CRM system and other internal tracking systems with strict process adherence.
  • Coordinate regularly with remote teams to support alignment and collaboration across the organization.
  • Provide informal mentorship and guidance to junior staff in an individual contributor capacity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 8+ years of experience originating and closing complex deals with large electricity consumers and/or utilities.
  • Ability to manage every stage of the sales cycle, from lead identification and cold calling through definitive contract negotiation.
  • Experience managing multiple complex deals at different stages simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of electricity market exposure, distributed generation, commercial and industrial electrical systems, or related engineering concepts.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to work across functions including the C-suite, pre-construction, operations, procurement, and marketing.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to build clear narratives in PowerPoint and written documents.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work through models and develop creative solutions for non-standard deals.
  • Ability to work independently with general autonomy while also supporting and guiding less experienced team members.
  • Executive presence, strong organization, numeracy, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Alignment with Convergent’s mission and a strong interest in the clean energy transition.
  • 25% travel expected for conferences, on-site customer engagements, team events, and company-wide meetings.
  • Understanding of electricity markets, project interconnection procedures, single-line diagrams, basic electrical laws, and standard nomenclature for electrical generating equipment (preferred).
  • Experience using HubSpot (preferred).
  • Technical sales experience (preferred).

  • Fully remote work for candidates outside the New York Metropolitan area, with a hybrid option of 1-2 days per week in the NYC office for local candidates.
