Description

  • Define and drive the architecture of the correctness layer across Coinbase’s fund flows, including real-time invariant enforcement and AI-powered guardrails.
  • Own the core platform components, including the invariant definition framework, real-time detection engine, APIs, and onboarding and monitoring tooling.
  • Lead the AI guardrails workstream, including predictive consistency models and proactive invariant discovery.
  • Set technical direction, make high-stakes architecture decisions, and raise the engineering bar for the team.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Transfer Service, Ledger, Payments, Risk, and Compliance to define correctness requirements and drive adoption.
  • Mentor engineers and translate the platform vision into an executable roadmap.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Experience building fault-tolerant, high-reliability distributed systems at scale.
  • Platform-builder mindset with experience building infrastructure that other teams depend on.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical work with significant company-wide impact.
  • Strong judgment for prioritizing load-bearing correctness problems over lower-value work.
  • Ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots such as LibreChat, Gemini, and Glean in daily workflows.
  • Willingness to apply human-in-the-loop practices and continuously adapt as AI tools evolve.
  • Experience with financial systems, reconciliation, or ledgering at scale (preferred).
  • Experience with streaming data infrastructure such as Kafka or Flink (preferred).
  • Experience with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Postgres, MongoDB, or DynamoDB (preferred).
  • Experience applying AI to predictive consistency or proactive gap discovery in financial or distributed systems (preferred).
  • Crypto-forward experience, including interacting with Ethereum addresses, ENS, dApps, or blockchain-based services (preferred).
  • Experience scaling through rapid company growth from 10 to hundreds of engineers (preferred).

  • Annual base salary range of $218,025 to $256,500 USD, excluding equity and bonus.
