Description

  • Build new Golang-based services to support critical product and business needs.
  • Design scalable systems using modern cloud technology and industry best practices.
  • Define a long-term vision for backend systems and the teams that operate them.
  • Partner with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn technical direction into quarterly roadmaps.
  • Write high-quality, well-tested code for customer-facing needs.
  • Work closely with Finance, Accounting/Controllership, Treasury, and Product Engineering to ensure financial data is complete, reconciled, and traceable.
  • Support workflows such as month-end close, safeguarding, and financial reporting at scale.
  • Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership on new initiatives and system improvements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software development experience.
  • Experience building performant, large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services.
  • Understanding of service-oriented architecture.
  • Ability to solve complex engineering problems aligned with team objectives.
  • Ability to mentor junior developers and lead technical initiatives.
  • Passion for building an open financial system and interest in Coinbase’s mission.
  • Ability to use generative AI tools and copilots responsibly in daily workflows, with human-in-the-loop practices.
  • Experience with financial data, accounting systems, or high-precision transaction processing (preferred).
  • Experience at a rapidly growing company (preferred).
  • Experience with blockchain technology such as Bitcoin or Ethereum (preferred).
  • Experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices (preferred).
  • Experience with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or DynamoDB (preferred).
  • Experience building financial, high-reliability, or security systems (preferred).

Benefits

  • Annual base salary range of $186,065 to $218,900 USD, excluding equity and bonus.
