Description

  • Build new services to meet critical product and business needs using Golang.
  • Design scalable systems to solve novel problems using modern cloud technology and industry best practices.
  • Define a long-term vision for maintaining and scaling backend systems and the teams that operate them.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate technical vision into quarterly roadmaps.
  • Write high-quality, well-tested code that meets customer needs.
  • Partner with Finance, Accounting/Controllership, Treasury, and Product Engineering on financial data and reporting workflows.
  • Ensure financial data is complete, reconciled, and traceable for month-end close, safeguarding, and reporting.
  • Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership on new initiatives and system improvements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software development experience.
  • Experience building performant, large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services.
  • Understanding of service-oriented architecture.
  • Ability to solve complex engineering problems aligned with team objectives.
  • Ability to mentor junior developers and lead technical initiatives.
  • Passion for building an open financial system and supporting Coinbase’s mission.
  • Ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots in daily workflows and apply human-in-the-loop practices.
  • Experience with financial data, accounting systems, or high-precision transaction processing is preferred.
  • Experience with blockchain technology such as Bitcoin or Ethereum is preferred.
  • Experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices is preferred.
  • Experience with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or DynamoDB is preferred.
  • Experience building financial, high-reliability, or security systems is preferred.

  • Annual base salary range of $186,065 to $218,900 USD, depending on location.
