Description

  • Develop strategies to defend Coinbase in high-stakes IP disputes.
  • Help shape Coinbase’s patent portfolio strategy.
  • Work with innovators to harvest inventions and create inventor education and outreach materials.
  • Manage patent preparation and prosecution and oversee outside counsel.
  • Develop analytical tools and processes to optimize Coinbase’s patent portfolio.
  • Perform IP due diligence and advise on IP transactional issues.
  • Provide thought leadership on legislative and judicial developments in intellectual property.

Requirements

  • Current license in a U.S. state.
  • JD or equivalent degree.
  • 5+ years of patent preparation and prosecution and/or patent litigation experience.
  • Preferred: 3+ years of patent litigation experience.
  • Deep knowledge of crypto or the ability and passion to become a crypto expert.
  • Experience in the crypto industry is a plus, but not required.
  • High degree of self-sufficiency and ability to make independent judgments.
  • Ability to build friendly, collaborative working relationships with teammates, legal department members, internal clients, and outside counsel.
  • Action-oriented mindset with the ability to execute and deliver impact in the first 90 days and beyond.
  • Ability to distill complex matters and communicate clearly in plain language to diverse audiences.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary range of $224,995 to $264,700 USD, excluding equity and bonus.

  • Attendance at multiple annual offsites is fully supported.
